Hello, my name is Steve Mutchie, your professional Wisconsin taxidermist. 

I have been hunting and fishing my whole life, and love the outdoors.  I have been interested in Taxidermy for as long as I can remember. Unfortunately, as most taxidermists will tell you, it isn’t easy to raise a family in this day and age, on what a new taxidermist will start out making. 

I worked in the manufacturing business for 20 years, starting out as a machine operator, working my way up through the ranks to Operations manager. The company I worked for went bankrupt and the plant was closed.  I started mounting some of my own specimens many years ago, and started taking in animals to mount from customers back in 1999. 
 

I went through Rinehart’s classes back in 2002, and my skills really started to improve.  After my job ended, I worked with Ron Wagner, one on one, through the winter, and I was amazed how much he raised my skill level and put me on the path to success in the field of taxidermy.  Now, I run my business full time, and I am always looking for new challenges.

I am a member of both the NTA as well as the Wisconsin Taxidermy Association. These two organizations allow me to keep up on the latest and greatest in the field of taxidermy.

All of my customers have complimented me  on the life-like mounts I do, as well as the custom bases I have built on special order. 

I live in Racine, Wi, but I also have a house in Trego Wi. I spend most of the hunting season in Trego, as I also butcher game at that location. I have a drop off place in Racine, when I’m in Trego, so my customers don’t have to worry about storage of an animal or fish.
